We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have reached yet another huge learner milestone, just 9 weeks after the last one!
Over 35,000 learners are now officially certified as Carbon Literate! This means that over 70,000 actions have been pledged – in communities, businesses, local authorities, schools and universities, across the UK and beyond – to cut carbon emissions across all sectors of society.
What’s more, with over 35,000 Carbon Literate citizens spread across the globe – doing things differently, affecting their organisations and their neighbourhoods, creating the market for low-carbon goods and services, and changing society with increasing rapidity – a cultural shift is not only anticipated but already ensuing.
After releasing our updated infographic with figures from the end of May just yesterday morning (6th June), we are astounded that by yesterday evening we had surpassed the 35,000 mark.
Since our last milestone of 30,000 learners, we have engaged a further 631 organisations, accredited 8 more Carbon Literate Organisations, have an additional 2 nations officially delivering Carbon Literacy, and have saved a whole lot of carbon in the process – over 17,000 tonnes of CO2e to be exact!
In 2021, we certified a total of 9,000 learners, so we are delighted that less than halfway through 2022, we have already beat our 2021 record and certified more than 10,000 learners!
We are so incredibly excited to see what else 2022 has in store for us, and how much further Carbon Literacy, as a whole, can move forward to allow the places we live, work and study to shift towards a low-carbon culture.
If you would like to find out how Carbon Literacy would work for your organisation in our record-breaking, 10th Anniversary year, please get in touch.
